Learning Log January 18th

What did we do?

Today, we all came in class and sat with our novel groups. We continued our group project of making a web chart, whereas everyone in the class divided into groups of the people that read the same book as theirs. The people in the groups had to work together in order to create a huge web chart of elements in the story, such as 'justice' or 'education.'

For the whole block, we were supposed to work on the web, but Ms. Lees gave us an assignment to assist her in marking the geography tests from last month. We all were given two tests and went through all the questions in order to confirm if they were right. We were also told to tally the marks.

As a class we finished tallying up the scores for all the geography tests (including the 4th block class) and we were all told that we would be given extra time to work on our web charts on Friday, due to the fact that we were supposed to have the whole block on that day to work on the charts.

Why ? (Learning Intentions)

Although for most of the day we worked on marking the tests, we also had some time to work on our charts too...

I believe we had to help Ms. Lees work on the geography test tallying, because all the marking that the students had done before was not very organized or neat.
Also, working in groups for our web charts helps us develop our social skills and also allows us to work with peers and have a chance to brainstorm ideas about certain things, such as, like in this case, a book that we read.

My Reflections / Connections:

I think working in groups for our web charts was a good idea, because by doing this we get to develop our social skills and skills in working with peers, while having a chance to brainstorm ideas about a certain topic. Personally, all these skills are very important to have and are essential in our learning,

Our ability to work with peers and our social skills are a necessity in the modern world, for they are important in the future, when having to work in groups or having to work with others. For getting a job, social skills are essential.

Working on brainstorming and thinking of ideas is very important too. It is essential in human learning, because we need to be able to think of ideas and be able to expand on the topic or category. Outside Humanities or things in school, brainstorming is important for having jobs that create innovation in the world or for making brilliant things out of a simple idea.

Homework: Due dates and tips

-Work on the good copy paragraphs if you haven't
-Make sure your web chart is almost done or completely finished for Friday
-Remember to study for your finals

  2. This blog looks a lot better than your old ones! Bravo for taking the time to write more and put in detail. I liked how you gave examples and a little bit of your opinion. BUT, there is always room for improvement. Maybe next time you could give even more examples or tipsÉ Really rely on your thoughts and feelings. Other than that, it looks like you have definitely come a long way :)
