January 4th Learning Log

 What did we do?

Today, in the morning, we started class by practicing for our Geography Challenge, in which we made it to round 3. After finishing our rounds, the whole class watched a video on the middle ages, describing what it was like at the time and about important people and events that took place during the early, high and late middle ages. When we were done taking our notes on the video, we worked on making a template for commenting and criticizing on our blog posts and that was the end of the block.

At Block 2, we went to the library and Ms Lees showed us how we should write down our reviews of our blogs and we went off in pair inside our blog groups to follow the directions. We listed all of our blog posts that we had written and then worked as we were told. We chose two of our posts, rated them and showed why we believed that the post had gotten or deserved that rating.

Why ? (Learning Intentions)

I think what we mainly worked on today, which was reviewing and criticizing our blog posts, was done in order to think about what we've posted and how we could improve our writing skills and learn how to write more 'formally.'

As for the middle ages video, I think we watched it to learn about our world and to see how it was like back in the past.

My Reflections / Connections:

I believe that with what we've learned today in humanities, especially about posting in our blog, it can help our skills in writing which can be very useful in the future for writing formal essays or reports. Also, these skills will be useful for jobs such as writing for a newspaper or a blog, whereas writing skills, such as the ones we've learned about today, are essential.

Homework: Due dates and tips

  1. Well done, Daniel! I see that you have improved quite a bit like Luke too! Your "What we did" has gone more detailed but maybe expand more on learning intentions! I like how you didn't forget to put tips this time! Good job! By the way...if you didn't know, we are supposed to comment on 2 peoples' posts every week. I don't think you have done that yet!
